Sales has been reorganized into 3-person teams, and everyone is moved into cubicles, whether or not they previously held an office. Each team is named after a basketball team, and I’m on the Suns. No one wanted to be the Warriors. But they are wrong. I spent my life being trained as a warrior despite my karma as a poet. In high school I was a Warrior and our collective heart in the bay area belongs to the Warriors. It was only through the wisdom of life I understood that on the other side of the Warrior coin is the Healer. The unifier. Of all that is without and all that is within. Of past present and future. I relish this side. But I never forgot what it means to be a Warrior.

Ask someone who has lived one lifetime as a warrior and another as a healer, and they will tell you that life is best lived with fierce passion and gentle fervor.

Who gets to be the Warriors? We are the warriors. Collectively. When all teams can compete to make each other better, but in competition create expansive generation, we will rise up together as a greater whole. Larry Ellison will likely buy the Warriors. He’s known for his single-minded approach to dominance. Can we build a better team than Larry Ellison? Can we become a billion-dollar company before Larry Ellison puts together a winning team?

Wrote mom an email:

Don’t think about things as being far away. Think of them is big and achievable. Once upon a time we thought of the moon as far away and impossible. But some people thought of it as close and attainable. And those were the ones who made it possible to land there.

It’s about thinking. What do you want to attain? Then we can do it not abstractly “some day” but in the reality of now.  And I can tell you now, it’s possible. This is what I talked to you about…belief. Do you actually BELIEVE you can be a billion dollar company? Then you would be willing to do EVERYTHING POSSIBLE to bring that idea into the here and now.

Success is never about what you hope and dream.

It is about what you dream and attain.

Are you committed or not?

She wrote back:

Yes, I believe we can become a billion dollar company!

I said:

Let’s go head-to-head with Larry.

My heart belongs to Machievelli. My judgment Sun Tzu. My soul, to the greater good.

Nothing changes destinies like believing in something and reaching it. Nothing makes a human greater. We are all in this miracle together. What matters is that we show up and compete.
